Home Run Derby

For my inaugural post, I'll put out a question:

Anyone watch Brandon Inge (HOF) fail to hit a single home run during his All Star Derby experience?  I didn't get to watch, but I do know that my main vegetarian Prince Fielder stole the show.  Think (HOF) was a tad nervous?  He became the first entrant since Jason Bay, in 2005 (ironically in Detroit at Comerica Park), to get blanked.

  1. I'm thinking Inge=HOF was out of his league. The dude can hit dingers when pitchers are throwing him heat. But he's not in the same class as Prince, Pujols, or Pena. No knock on Brandon... he just had a bad day. And a bad day for Brandon is way worse than most home run hitters.

And this might say it all...
    Career homeruns:
    Pujols - 351
    Pena - 184
    Fielder - 136
    Inge - 117

And Inge is the oldest player in that group. He's simply not the same kind of hitter. In Inge=HOF's defense, I'd rather have him fielding 3rd than any of the above... so he's got that going for him.

  2. You're right. And maybe he came close a coupla times? One would have been nice though. I guess its an honor just to be nominated, right?
