I don't really see it. Vick would make much more sense if they didn't draft a friggin' QB #1 overall and pay him the biggest salary ever. Obviously, Vick is not in their plans.
In Detroit, the spin is already in motion. The Lions report that Stafford looks great in practice, and the brass are thinking he might be the starter in week 1. This is all about ticket sales of course. They've gotta create a buzz, and a new starting QB accomplishes that... at least until he loses his head thanks to the crappy offensive line.
But what do you have to lose by signing Vick? Whether he's the answer at QB or not, he at least provides a sign that the team is trying. Platooning Vick and one of the others would at least keep Stafford from getting his head taken off this season. Run the Wildcat with Vick, the options (pun intended) are limitless!
