Buzzkill

What a sad night. Less than two weeks after the Wings "won" the Cup after Game 2, the Detroit fans realized that it actually takes 4 games to win it. Now, the Penguins are skating around the Joe with the Cup. So sad.

All I can say is that the Wings looked like a different team all throughout the Finals. I'm not sure if it's due to injuries or if Pittsburgh was just that good. Either way, they disrupted the Red Wings offensive flow. And the Pens did just enough scoring. I'll be seeing that Talbot breakaway in my nightmares all summer. But, hey, we should all look at the bright side, right? At least the NHL has a true Kodak moment with Crosby raising the Cup. We'll get to see that for the next 20 years.

  1. Your link of the day is interesting. I dont think they were booing the Stanley Cup winners, they were booing Crosby who just dissed the entire Wings team including Lidstrom...Come on! captain to captain!

Thats why they booed. Give me a break

  2. A lot of fans say they were booing Gary Bettman, which makes even more sense. I honestly don't blame Crosby. The dude was getting pulled away by NBC and CBC to do interviews. In effect, it was the NHL's promotion machine that was disrespecting its own traditions.

That's what sucks so badly about today's NHL. They claim to be such a traditional league, except when it comes to dollars and cents. They'll eschew tradition without a second thought if it'll make the league more profitable (moving teams to Phoenix, Tampa, etc.). Of course, how often does that work out? The team in Phoenix loses $20million per year. What a horrible league.
