Bring on Baseball!

Interesting factoid from our beloved '08 Detroit Tigers:

After Todd Jones was bumped from the closer role, the Tigers blew 61% of their save opportunities.

Oh, the memories.

  1. Wow, that's an amazing number. However, did ANYONE feel comfortable with Jones as the closer?

  2. closing situation: the tigers are up 3-1. Jones is on the mound. walk. strike out. hit, man on first and third. single, man on first and third, 3-2. strike out. walk, bases loaded. ball. ball. foul. strike. foul. foul. foul. strike.

yeah, they win...but all my fingernails are chewed off.

  3. That's a pretty accurate scenario. What I love about the 61% statistic is that it occurred after Jones got the boot. Why did Jones get the boot? Blown saves.
